Windows Vista & Software problem!

I am about to buy a laptop which comes with windows Vista [as I was told that Dell doesn't do XP Home anymore. They would give XP Professional for extra £60]............

The problem is the softwares I need to use for my work wont be compatable with Vista!

Is there any other way to make use of them OR I have no option other than paying extra money for XP Professional?

PLEASE HELP!:o

    What software won't be compatible?

Alot of developers have created patches to enable older software work with Windows Vista. Windows Vista also has a compatibility mode that can sometimes help.

There are fixes for the two programmes you use. Adobe and Nero both released updates and windows compatibillity mode can also fix the issues with them.

You mean like Adobe Illustrator that even works on my desktop which is running Vista x64 and Nero which is on my laptop?

    Anything else you're worried about?

This is quite a good point.

There were in the first few months after Windows Vista was released a number of problems with certain pieces of software. However, this has to be expected, it was a completely new operating system after all. Virtually every large brand has offered updates for its popular products and users have found ways around a lot of others.

I fear this may be a conspiracy perpetuated by the mac communituy.
