It's worth trying Tescos for Term Insurance, as they sell Norwich Union policies, but with (usually) lower premiums. I guess you would also get clubcard points as well!0

Although the sites commented on this website and a number of discount IFAs could beat Tesco.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Who would like to know a little know fact about 1 journalist's "miss-quote" and one broker who is advertised on these boards as a best buy which is actually committing a criminal offence with the financial services authority and the trade descriptions act?
If so drop me a line and I will drop some hints for you0 -
hey you must watch the "whistleblower" program tonight @ 9pm bbc 10

I have read that by putting pensions and life assurance policies on trust will prevent the taxman from taking 40 % chunk in IHT when I die. But no explanation why and by life assurance policies do they mean level term assurance?
Can anyone explain this to me or answer the second part?PunjabDaPunk0 -
Pensions are already a trust and death benefits are paid outside of the estate for tax purposes.
Life assurance plan "generic names" are basically what they mean.
Level term assurance = level sum assured over a defined term.
decreasing term assurance = decreasing sum assured over a defined term.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I have just used an online quote system for life insurance and it seems to be cheaper than cavendish online which by looking at the best buy tables on this site seems to be cheaper.
I am a single parent and I do not have much money to spare although I love my children very much and would like to leave them something if the worst should happen.
Please can somebody tell me if the following link works out cheaper than that of cavendish?
i am looking for 200,000 cover over 25 years.
the link to the site I have seen is https://www.lifeagency.co.uk
hope you can help
thankyou very much0 -
 We remortaged recently and as we were cashing in our useless endowments decided to take out separate level term life assurance policies with Norwich Union, as these were the only policies sold through our 'mortage advisor', so we thought it would be easier (HA! wish we'd gone through Cavendish online now - would have been cheaper anyway).
The mortgage went through straight away as did my life assurance, but my husband is still waiting for a decision 3 AND A HALF MONTHS LATER!!! He does have a minor medical problem for which he has seen the GP and which is being monitored, but is certainly nothing serious and doesn't even cause him to take days off work. When you contact the (useless) mortage brokers, they contact NU who then blame the GP for not getting the reports back in time. HELLO? The doctor has a more important job to do and this is just passing the buck. It's the NU's job to shuffle paper, and they appear to spend most of their time sitting on their backsides.
The situation is very anxiety making for us and I would say
NORWICH UNION SUCK ! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!0
