I am off work today, i generally have tuesdays and thursdays off to look after our children because my wife has gone back to work on a part time basis now her maternity leave has expired. She works tuesdays and thursdays.
Anyway 20 minutes ago i received a call on my mobile from the mrs telling me she has asked for extra hours. On asking the reason why she went on to tell me about the credit crunch and her fear of having our house repossessed, i tried to explain that nothing really has changed and we have massive equity in our house, she had read someting in the newspaper that speculated we were heading for massive house drops and recession. Just goes to show how the media can influence the masses.

yes indeed after years of being nagged about 'all those finacial websites' and 'who are you writing to now'.....
MsIMR has finally seen the light, now her friends are all saying 'well you sold at the right time' and as her sisters have re-mortaged to the hilt, and the bbc are reporting house price falls, and the credit crunch in detail....:rolleyes:0 -
It was probably the first thing that came into her head. Truth is - she probably just doesn't want to come home!0

Don't you feel slightly disappointed? Given the strong views you hold on the forums and then finding your wife holds more bearish views which you've not been able to fully convince her are nothing to worry about.
Or does she know more than you do about your circumstances? She doesn't have any secret credit card debt or anything? My mother's friend attended one of those sell-to-rent functions at a hotel recently without the knowledge of her husband.0 -
that is the whole point of the media, look at last week, reporting on the fuel protest, cost on fuel and how bad it was keeping people interested on the subject now they have moved on to something else ie knife crime and the fuel subject is a thing of the past. I know they are there to do a job but "scare tatics" thats not on IMO0

aww bless her cotton socks.
At least you know you've got a grafter there.
Send her down the mines. And those kids ... up the chimneys with them!0 -

Heavens dopester i hope not, when we got the mortgage last year, on the application there were no loans or cards on there for the other half. To be honest we don't talk about economics or house prices in here, too busy with the kids. I wouldn't try and convince her of anything, she has her own mind.0 -

When i met her a long time a go she was on 30k a year and worked 6 days a week sometimes for 16 hours a day, nearly killed her. If the credit crunch hits us she'll be back there0 -

I'll give up, because I can't beat this.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
