You'll need to find the Restore CD that came with the computer, start (boot) from that and then try and run either a repair or system restore from there.
Do you have backups of your files?0 -
no back up how do i do that also if i find the restore cd what will happen when i put that in sorry dumb blond here x0
-
if you have the restore cd, it will wipe everything off your computer, and start as from a day 1 condition..
without a backup, you will have lost all your photos / music / documents.0 -
cant find restore cd dam but found drivers cd is that any good x0

The drivers CD is useless for this purpose - sorry!
If you find and boot to to the restore CD it may have various options, and certainly won't wipe anything without asking. In fact it should have a repair option and another to go from a system restore point. It depends on your version of Windows though and the type of CD you've been supplied with for the PC.
PS Have you tried starting is Safe mode? Follow the instructions here.0 -
Safe mode is always a good option, however if you cant do that then you may end up lossing all your documents.

Before that though you may wish to try a data recovery service. They may be able to save the data.0 -
sorry forgot to say people its vista0

If you have anything on your laptop that you can't afford to lose, I would get a techie to try to recover the data before you do anything else. If the hard disk is failing and you keep turning the laptop on and off, you are likely to be causing further damage to the drive making it increasingly unlikely that your data will be recovered successfully.
If you have a technical friend he/she may be able to remove the hard disk and plug it in to another PC to try to copy the data before it goes for good.
Hope this helps...0 -
I will also add that having a technical friend look at it is the best option, but if you're stuck you could possibly download a CD from http://www.ubuntu.com/
You would put this CD into your machine and boot from it, choosing the 'live CD' option. That might let you get at your files. Really though this option may not be suited to you if you're not at all technically minded; I just thought I'd put it out there as another option in case you don't have any alternative.“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” - Lao Tzu
