Can anyone help a friend of mine with the poor service she is receiving?
For christmas i got a nikon camera and i sent of the warrenty form to make sure i was covered. in january the lens broke and it wouldnt go back in when switch off. I sent it to nikon with the warrenty. After 3 weeks i rang them to see how the repair was going to find out they had actually sent it back to the post office without informing me as there was no proof of purchase. I then had to go back top the post office to re collect my still broken camera. I tried to get proof of purchase however due to it being a christams present this is not easy, i informed them of the situation and that it was under warrenty and that i had registered it with them and they said it was going to cost 45 pounds and that was that. So i sent it back recoreded delivery as obviously cannot trust them, this was back in march and they have not contacted me at all. I have had to do all the chasing just to be either fobbbed of with yes next week and then gain no contact from them what so ever yet they are still charging me. i ended up going to the manager who again fobbed me off with the usaul rubbish. I finally after two months of chasing was told that it would be back on the 3/6/08 which as you have guessed it that hasn't happened and no one again has contacted me from fixation and today i rang them to be told it is being sent today yet i had to ring them to get this response!
Any advice on where she goes from here? All advice gratefully received!

You should have taken it back to the shop and not gone through Nikon.
It is the stores responsibility.
Not much help now but for anyone else......
RETURN FAULTY GOODS TO THE STORE YOU PURCHASED IT FROM AND LET THEM SORT IT OUT.0 -
Thank you both, I will point my friend back here! I think she sent it back to Nikon as it was a present and didn't know which shop to take it back to, but will check that detail!
KB, I will ask her, thank you for that very kind offer x:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -
nikon has a decent website listing all the details you need for a repair under warranty.
I sent a 4 year old camera for repair and there were copious emails and paper copies at every stage of the process.
I can't fault the service I got.
nikon link.
They even state.
