Lowest on the web aka Evesham. Please Help!

Lowest on the web aka Evesham.

I bought a 30” LCD TV from them last week, due to having to move and dump my old broken TV it took me two days to get it in place and working. I then noticed that the picture was way to bright and couldn’t be adjusted I sent two emails both of which have been ignored. Their phone support cost £1 a min so I went back to their site to request a refund and an RMA (Return to Manufacture ) number.. Today I received the RMA but it says repair they also don’t arrange pick-up. I don’t have transport and I’m at a loss as to how I get this thing back to them. Amtrak the company who delivered it want £45 to send a parcel of this size.

Dealing with this company is like dealing with a bunch of Robots!!! So I have got to somehow make them realise I want a refund and I’m not prepared to pay £45 shipping to them for a product that is obviously not working as advertised.

Any help appreciated thanks.

Are you sure there is nothing to adjust the brightness ... I have never seen any kind of LCD (or CRT) screen that does not have such a control ???

Review the terms and conditions on the site related to refunds and also look into 'distant selling laws' (or whatever they are called). If the goods were effectively faulty on arrival I thought (but I could be wrong) that you could request a refund on the grounds that they were not fit for purpose. You can not however just request a refund because you have changed your mind.

Hopefully one of the other bods on this site will come along and give you a definitive answer.

Sorry Ivan, I meant the controls are there but don’t seem to do anything. Even when there is no picture, the screen omits a blueish glow. They are just so hard to contact if something goes wrong.

And sorry the name of the company is ”Lowest on Web” not”Lowest on the Web” as I’ve posted above.

  • Under the Distance Selling Regulations you are allowed to return an item for any reason providing you inform the retailer withing 7 days of receipt.

The Sale of Goods Act also state the goods must be fit for purpose.

Email them again telling them the item is broken. Keep copies of your email then escalate the call if you don't get a reply. You can get Director's details from the Companies House website.

Thanks Epiphone and Ivan for the info... I managed to find a national rate phone number for them and they are coming tomorrow to pick it up... I just have to see how long the refund takes to arrive now.

This is the customer care phone number if anyone needs it 0870-729 9785 (calls charged at national rate)

One of my best friends works for Evesham at their helpdesk. and this advice comes from him, not me.

NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM EVESHAM, EVERYTHING THEY SELL IS RUBBISH! AND THEY KNOW IT AND KEEP ON SELLING IT ANYWAY!

  • It's hard to believe that Evesham were once considered one of the best companies for products and support.

Indeed. I'm a recent victim of this myth. Paid a very full price for a pc for the 'reputation' . Reality is that customer support is an insult. Sad to experience a company who trades on the union jack with such indifference.
