How to sell a car?
Options
I'm a newbie and this is my first post so please be gentle with me
I'm thinking of selling my car (07 Honda Civic) and I'm not sure of the best way to do it. I don't want another car so something like part ex is no good for me. I know about selling on Ebay or through auto trader and other mags but not too sure how confident I would be dealing with someone and quite a lot of money (car is worth about £14000).
Is there an easy way of selling the car.....doubt it but I have to ask
Any ideas?
Thanks

Try Autotrader
Gumtree.com?!
Trade it or two A4 bits of paper in the car window always worksDELETE ACCOUNT.
NO LONGER WANTED

Advertising is one side of it, pistonheads.co.uk classifieds is free so another place to try.
The next bit is receiving payment of £14,000
If your buyer banks at the same place you do, both of you go into the bank and arrange for an instant cash transfer - job done.
If different banks, go with the buyer to their bank and watch a bank transfer being made out to you (so you know 100% it's not fraudulent), go straight to your bank and deposit it. You have to wait 3-4 days for it to clear, but it is guaranteed so you can hand over the keys as soon as you deposit the cheque.0 -
If you go for the Autotrader route - watch out for the following calls from companies with "Buyers looking for your type of car" and that for a payment of £90 we will put them in touch with you.Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!
There are three types of people in the world, those who can add up and those who can't.0 -
for a car of that value autotrader
if it was 1400 i woud say ebay!0 -
I have just sold our car privatley, I did a listing on ebay as a clasified add I put this on Tuesday night and on wednesday a chap came round and bought it for only £200 below the book price (parkers) I was happy with that as it was £550 more than the part ex price and £800 more than webuyanycar.
If you list on ebay it is cheaper than autotrader £12 i think, if you do it as clasified people cannot bid so you are not at risk of a low price.
Dont put any phone numbers on there and be prepared for stupid emails offering you silly money
it worked for me
Selling it privatley is the only was you wont get fleeced and if someone negotates hard with you just walk away it sounds a mint cond car so you should get your money:beer:0
