Hope this helps
But surely after you have added the cost of the Bluetooth GPS thingy and TomTom software etc then it is a very expensive bit of kit.
The Acer N35 here http://!!!!!!!.com/8dnlj has got good reviews for similar money and built in GPS.0 -
It seems a reasonable price, but its an extremely low power machine, only being a 266Mhz Samsung Processor.
It will just about run TomTom5, but not TomTom3 as its a more demanding program (not that you would want to run an older version!). It also hasnt got a hope at coping with DIVX playback. Iif you were wanting to use it as a pocket movie player, convert DVD's to play on it etc, forget it.0 -
I use my pocket pc not only for Sat Nav but also as a diary, mp3 player and portable office (Microsoft Word/Excel). It also means whenever a better GPS receiver comes out or better navigation software I only have to upgrade that part. When I bought mine I bought it one part at a time as I couldn't afford to buy it all in one go. This mean't that I got used to the pocket pc/pda before adding Sat Nav to it.
The Pocket PC/PDA looks to be fine for Tomtom 5, Diary, MP3 player and portable office. So at the price it looks to be a nice unit.
In response to Tron_ADS post:
I used to use a Compaq Ipaq 3660 which was the first generation of Pocket PC's/PDA from Compaq and it had a 206mhz processor and this ran Tomtom 3 fine without any problems.
So the Acer N30 Pocket PC should be able to cope with TomTom 3 or 5 without any problems.Looking to raise some money0 -
isn't it better to get a mobile phone which will do all this, for example the orange c500 or the orange c550 are great phones but will do the job as a sat nav aswell, all you need is the gps reciever and sd card with tom tom and the phone holder.
The above phones are not that expensive aswell, the c550 is the latest one out from orange and it is about £150 (it is out of stock at the moment)

the phone also has a 1.3 mega pixel camera on it, and it works as good a pda.
just my sugestionWhat goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -

I was going to go with a dedicated sat nav system but for a few quid more I have a new toy to play with.0 -

A Samsung 266Mhz processor is the same as an intel 400Mhz speed wise so I was told and my 400Mhz FS Loox plays movies just fine. Even my wifes 200Mhz Ipaq has no problems with beta player0 -
You can find full details on the acer n30 specification here:

Yeah, thats what Samdung like you to think, but in reality its very similar to the old Cyrix 486 Processors, which were actualy pitiful compared to an intel, particularly on heavy math based applications.
My current PDA is an XDA Iii, with in normal mode runs at 400Mhz (Intel), or 533Mhz in "turbo" mode (which is what i leave it in). I get some divx tv programs that bog down on beta-player when its on 400mhz, but not at 533mhz. Not all of them do this, one that does spring to mind is the jcb song music video, which I recently tried to play as is (ie i didnt convert it), straight from the web site - 400mhz was having none of it but 533 was fine.0 -
You can also try Navman PIN 570 it is a similar spec but has a reliable software from Navman
