Hi
Want to get DH a ipod docking system for Fathers Day from the kids.
Have approx £50 to spend but want to get a fairly decent one.
Have been looking on Tesco Direct as I have a code for 1000 extra points when ordering from them
I have no idea what is good when it comes to these things & if I ask DH he will smell a rat!
IS this one anygood? http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-1508.aspx
Thanks in advance

MY local HMV has a range on display and invites you to drop your ipod into one to hear what it sounds like.
I think you can do this in John Lewis as well.
Worth trying to hear what they may be like.
I have one of the bose ones - not cheap but I got it at a substantial discount - and I use it as my main "hi-fi" as it were.
Where it will be used and for what may colour your judgement as well0 -
Also worth going into a local Apple store (or Apple dealer) and John Lewis, lots to choose from.0

to throw a spanner in the works I have a 21 month old with Chicken Pox at the moment so we are under house arrest!!!!
I need to go by recommendations!0 -
Search and read the reviews of the docks here: http://www.macuser.co.uk/
This Pure Chronos iDock gets great reviews at £80, but there are plenty of others in the reviews section above.0 -
Ok - let's see if we can help
What is it going to be used for?
My sis has a docking station alarm clock which she uses to wake her in the morning.
Will it be used for "serious" listening.
Does it need to be battery powered? (use in the bathroom for example)0 -
I have this one http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-4800.aspx
The sound quality is very good for its size, note that it it is mains only. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I can recommend this one here. It is the JBL On-Stage Micro. For its size, it packs a decent punch and has several features I like and is also within your budget.
1. Mains or battery powered.
2. Can be used as a separate speaker system by feeding a signal into the input jack plug in the back of the unit. This is great as it's not restricted for ipod-use only. You could use it as a PC speaker system if you wanted.
3. Ideal for travel. Small, reasonably light, has a remote and comes complete with a travel pouch.
4. Charges your ipod whilst docked (Useful if you go on holiday with it as no need to take ipod charger).
5. Comes in black or white. I think a red one has recently been released too - might be more than £50 though.
6. In budget by 18p inc. delivery

Now I like the look of that one as 2 of you have recommended it & it looks quite funky!
My thing is that I was hoping for Battery operated but I am sure we can live with out that!!
Thanks guys :T0 -

Yeah - only realised the previous poster had already suggested the same unit as me after I posted.
One of my friends has the unit and took it with us to Morocco - it was great. From what I remember, it was battery operated also (as mentioned in my post). One thing to keep in mind is that there are two versions of this unit: the normal one and the "micro". The micro unit can be powered by battery or mains power see here for more details on the specification.0
