Fee to change House/Contents Insurance

Dear All,

I am switching my house/contents insurance to More Than (Royal & Sun Alliance) and happily getting a much more comprehensive, and cheaper, deal. However my mortgage company, Market Harborough, will charge an administration fee of 30 pounds to make the switch go ahead. This is mentioned in my mortgage offer with them, although the exact fee is not mentioned.

Please can anyone tell me if the charge is legal i.e. is there anything I can do about it?

Many Thanks

Mike

You could try asking RSA whether they will cover it for you?

Sometimes companies have advertised this is the past and they might do so to get your business.

If they won't then you've only wasted a few minutes.
