Help !! Paypal E-cheque problem ...

Could anyone please help - when I used to pay with paypal for ebay purchases the payment went thru immediately from my bank account - now it says I have sent an e-cheque and clearing takes upto 7 days. I have no idea why this has changed but I have just bought a flight bag to take away next week and now it looks like I won't get it in time as the clearing date is 12th June. Any idea how to change it back to going out of my bank account immediately as it always used to ? Thanks in advance for your help!

Check if your debit/credit card has expired.0

Thanks Steviebabes - you were right my card had expired so I've now updated it but the payments pending still say e-cheque due to clear 12/6/08 - think I'm going to have to ring paypal tomorrow to sort out as it won't even let me cancel them so I can send postal orders instead0

PayPal will not cancel an eCheque once it has been sent no matter what the reason. You are going to have to wait this one out I'm afraid.0

This recently happened to my sister; she hadn’t used ebay/paypal for a while, but purchased a gift for our mom’s 70th birthday. On querying why she ended up paying by e-cheque and that her card had expired, she contacted the seller who luckily was very sympathetic to the problem and sent the item anyway, in time for mom’s birthday.
There’s no harm in trying to explain to the seller what’s happened, you can but try.0 -
I think the seller can click refund and cancel the echeque then you could send another instant payment. I would communicate with your seller and see what they would rather do. As a seller myself I always contact buyers who pay by echeque as 90% of them do not realise it is happening so expect the goods immediately. If I get a sensible reply and their feedback is OK I usually send the goods.0

A buyer has just contacted me about this exact situation and I tried to refund their echeque - it doesn't work the same as a normal refund, the funds come from your account balance and Paypal don't refund the fees.0 -

That's because you don't have th emoney to refund. If seller attempts to refund an echeque and the echeque later fails to clear the original payment never reaches seller but second payment refunded has gone so seller loses money.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
