Great Motorway Secret Book - GOT MINE

The book I won on the forum arrived today - THANKS!!!

Anyway, heres my first impressions:

The main aim of this book is to show where there are LARGE supermarkets near motorways. Even though I have seen similar book which show restaurants, petrol stations etc etc, this one is specific to the bigger supermarkets with cafes and petrol stations (covers Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Safeway and Asda).

I can see this book being very useful as it can be checked quickly before a long journey and the stops can be planned in advance. If it was a tad smaller, it could easily be kept in the glovebox in the car. It's by no means big but based on the info inside, it could have been smaller.

Best thing about the book is that the full supermarket addresses are shown as well as opening times.

Also, it hasnt gone for info overkill. Rather than listing absolutely everything like petrol stations, restaurants, pubs etc, it has listed supermarkets which usually have all these facilties (except a pub) anyway.

2 things overlooked - doesnt cover the glorified A roads eg. A1(M), A74(M) etc. Also doesnt cover any motorways in Scotland - maybe I shoudln't have mentioned that!! Some will not be too happy about that!

I can see this book saving people a lot of money on just fuel alone. Supermarket fuel is usually the cheapest and when compared to motorway service station prices, the biggest savings can be gained.

This book is perfect for someone who travels a lot. However, for someone doing the same journeys regularly, once you know the best places to stop, the book will be rendered useless.

There you go ... my humble review!!!

I got mine as well the other day, only had a quick flick through so far.

Seems very easy to read and my girlfriend will be able to direct me to the supermarkets easy enough from it.

I will have to compare it to my other book "just off the motorway" that lists attractions etc as well.

I did expect more supermarkets to be closer to the motorway junctions though as there seem to be a lot of gaps.
