I applied for the 80% childcare tax credits.
Would my child tax credits amounts be the same for both these two situations-
partner working over 30 hours a week and myself 16 hours a week. getting child tax credits but no childcare needed
and
partner working over 30 hours a week and myself 16 hours a week. getting child tax credits and childcare needed so able to claim 80% of the childcare costs.
Would the child tax credits (not inclusing the childcare money) be the same in both these situations?
You'd of thought so, so why does the entitledto calculate show differently?
Has anyone else come across these.
Ie, you'd get the same amount of child tax credits (not including childcare money) if you used childcare of not.
strange

help with childcare is all based on how much you earn, and how much you spend on childcare
having discussed this with friends, it seems, unless you earn under £15K and are loosing most of your pay in childcare fees, then you dont get any help at all
i dont know why they have to hide your childcare award within their payments - they list every other detail ie, one child under 1yr, you get X amount, and 2 parents working over 16hrs = X amount, but they wont say, childcare fees of £100p/w = X amount. it would save us all this confusion on whether you were getting childcare help or not

the entitledto calculation shows that you can get childcare money up to earning, as a couple about £25000.
I don't quite think you understand what I was saying.
If as a couple we both earn £19300 between us and both over 16 hours a week. If we do not claim childcare we can get £1922.45 on the child tax credits.
In the same situation with the same income and the same working hours if we then claim for £120 a week childcare costs we would get £2635.30 child tax credits and £4183.35 childcare amounts.
Why is there a difference between the £1922.45 and the £2635.30 child tax credits? The childcare money is shown separately on the entitledto web page.0 -
I was slightly confused what you were asking, but now I understand. Your maximum tax credit award is maximum WTC + maximum CTC + childcare. This then gets reduced based on your income. The order entitledto appears to use is to reduce WTC first then childcare then CTC.
In the situation without childcare all your WTC is withdrawn there is no childcare to reduce so it then starts reducing your CTC.
With childcare, all your WTC has been withdrawn, it's started to reduce your childcare, but because your childcare hasn't been reduced to 0 you get full CTC.Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place0
