yes no bother, as i have said before you can peel and slice them, keep in salted or lemon water while you do them all, then bag them in amounts suitable for crumbles etc, keeps well in freezer0

You can also dry them in sliced rings. I like them that way but it's a faff and I haven't done any in recent years.0

What's the best lemon/water ratio that will stop the browning but not flavour the apple?
We had an apple picking weekend - got 8 carriers worth off of one tree (and there's still windfall coming off the top branches) - most went to family and friends, but I still have 2 bags to use/store, so was thinking of freezing in portions.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
depends on the size of bowl you have the water in, i usually have a bowl that will hold about three freezer bagfuls of apples so i just put in about three good splashes out of the bottle, you can put in more water and lemon as you go along if need be, as soon as you have filled the three bags pop them in the freezer, then start filling the bowl with apples for the next three bags, hth0

A good way of storing apples is to get some of the apple trays and boxes from the supermarket, they are more than happy for you to help yourself to however many you want, free of course
then keep them in a dry, cool place away from mice

Hi all, I am new to OS but trying VERY hard to cut down our food spends;) . Our apple tree has ripened and so after making 3 apple pies, an apple crumble and apple turnovers my freezer is stuffed and I still have 10kg left:rotfl: . Anyone know how I can store apples well? Many thanks in advance.0

Choos clean, dry apples with no bruising.
Wrap each in a piece of kitchen roll or even newspaper
Place into the sections of an apple box (probably get one from supermarket)
Put lid on
Place into back of garage or shed, where cool.
Remove & eat at a later date!0 -
