Hey all,
Im using Vista Home Premium on all computers, what im trying to do is to get the built in backup feature in vista to backup to my central computer, I have managed to do this BUT i now face the problem of security, I only want individual computers to be able to access certain folders and files.
Example:
Computer 1 backs up to Server, Computer 2 Backs up to Server, Computer 1 can only access Computer 1's backups and NOT Computer 2's backup.
How would i do this?

Right click on the target folders and "create" permissions for the indvidual user accounts, then on each machine set the machine name and password, usually in control panel/users/manage network passwordsclick here to achieve nothing!0

Sorry i dont follow can you explain a bit more?
How do i create the permissions? All i could see when doing permissions was Co-Owner, Contrubiter and Reader.0 -
soz m8, didn't see your reply, anyway the easiest way to do this with vista although it may need some tweaking as i am only just getting used to vistas oddities,
assuming you have set up file sharing on the backup "server" just create accounts for the users on the secondary pcs eg
User1 is the main account on pc1 the server
user 2 is the main account on pc2, the machine requiring backup store
Create new user account on pc1 "user2" and set the password, this will automatically create a document repository for user 2 and will request a username and password when you access this share over the network.
I also edited permissions on the users folder so that only user one and user 2 had access (removing the "everyone" permission)
To do this navigate thru the c drive to users/user2 right click on that folder and select sharing/permissionsclick here to achieve nothing!0
