Natwest - have I been accepted?

in Credit cards
I've just been on the Natwest website (I have a current a/c and overdraft facility with them) and thought I'd try applying for a credit card with them. As I went through the form it told me what my credit limit would be if accepted (£10,600), but then said afterwards that it couldn't give an instant decision and it had been referred.
Is it normal that companies advise of potential limits before making a decision, or is it just Natwest's policy? And does anyone think this would make it more or less likely that I'll be accepted?
Thanks for any answers

Yes, RBS Group score you on your application then do a full credit check, they did this to me and then knocked me back.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

Natwest must hate me, I applied online it gave me my limit £1400 *Spit* but conifmred I had been accepted there and then, the card came not long after0

Think the same is true for all RBS group companies in that if you get a credit limit and a box to sign then you have been approved. I've just got ulster card and rbs card this way.

I've never been advised of my credit limit in advance, and I've applied for 8 cards (but only accepted for 2, however!)
With my latest card, Halifax, I wasn't told of the limit until I actually got sent the card, keep in mind this is after I've already signed my life away!
I'd be interested to hear if anyone else heard about their limits in advance. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -

That's interesting. Do HSBC do the same .. That would explain why no credit search is showing yet ...:happylove Tori Bellatrix :happylove

I think so, they said no to me, but have never made a credit check.
Nat west said yes and gave the limit straight away as did Virgin.0 -
Just a quick update...eight days after the application they wrote to me and said that to progress the application they needed to see proof of my wages...so I've sent that off and feel a bit more hopeful. To be honest, I never really thought I'd be accepted because of a 3 year old satisfied default on my credit file, but maybe the fact that I've got a good record with my Natwest current account helps. I haven't checked to see if they've done the credit check but I'd assume that they'd do that first, then only if I pass would they ask for proof of earnings?0

Hi,
This exactly happened to me. I applied for RBS card over a week ago. They provided with the credit limit and then they said the application has been referred. Now I received a letter on Friday for ID.

Again, another quick update..absolutely nothing. I sent back my payslips over a week ago, and I've not had a phone call, email or letter from them. I still don't know whether I've been accepted or not, does anyone have any idea how long the process with Natwest takes?0
