i am all for deals (my main reason for joining) and ways around any companies sales system. The 882 codes is a good example. Argos know these exist and its the publication on here that causes them to be closed - people get greedy, MIS reporting shows large increase, hence closed.

By offering this "service" to people, what do you think its going to achieve? A few people will get bargains - but it will make argos tighten up these loopholes. Also stop RO and similar offers to the public? Hence ruining it for the vast majority.

Disclosing sales offers before release is a serious issue @Argos (even giving out the new catalogue b4 due date warrants a disciplinary) and you better hope this thread "dissapears" asap

Sorry, but I hope you get your  :-X kicked as an example to others

I really don't know what position your husband holds within Argos but can only assume it is one of middle management because the higher you go within the heirachy @ Argos the more positive the view on the effect that mse has had on the company, yes there have been hiccups for them but this site has effectively shifted ro stocks in record time and this immediately prior to Christmas, in fact quite the opposite to what you say it has resulted in new stock added to ro list that was not initially intended for disposal in this manner due to the high demand, what is actually going on at Argos at the moment is not so much to frustrate the efforts of users of this site more an excercise to try and control/manipulate them depending on how polite you wish to be about it. mse is not a marketing tool for any company it is an information trading post for the consumer, you can tell the mandarins thank you very much from me, the only real downside for Argos has been the inability to control the release of information in the manner they had chosen anyone who tells you otherwise is misinformed.

    See Aliasojo
    "Buy a strait-jacket get a soap-box free"

    Spot on observation Ben.

I think Argos will be delighted at all the free publicity, goodwill from public etc., and I can imagine Index(remember them?) will be very interested and have to consider 'leaking' similar sales, if only to place themselves back in the public spyche.

Most people appreciate what has happened this autumn and will look on Argos with a lot of fondness(?).

They have become so appreciative of the staff that I've read threads where people will/are taking little gifts for them.

Will this constitute a bribe and become a sacking offence?
Will a smile and a thank-you be viewed in the same way?

Argos may lose some money on these sales, but you can guarantee this will be considered a perfect example of a 'loss-leader'

Ben. Wanna go halves on that soap-box?

You can spend your time alone re digesting past regrets,
Or you can come to terms and realize you're the only one who can forgive yourself.
Makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

Hiya Chris and welcome to the site,

although i'm not sure how you could let everyone know about up coming sales early, as the last one seemed to take most argos staff members a little by surprise. :-/
Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission ;)

Hi Chris are you still there?
Life should be a little nuts; otherwise it's just a bunch of Thursdays strung together.
