websites display size

Why is it that some sites show on my monitor in a portrait format.All the piccy is in the centre of the screen.is this normal and can i change it ??Even full screen doesnt help.

  • Only thing I can suggest is that you are running at a very high resolution, and the sites you are viewing are optimised for a lower resolution. This would mean that the site seems to be too small for your screen. Only way to combat this is to decrease your screen resolution.
    I could be totally wrong of course.....but we'll await other opinions. :p

    bingo bango is probably right - some websites are designed to stretch right across any screen size, others are designed to be a fixed size. I'm guessing you're using 1024x768 or larger resolution. If you are, then you will have space at either side of some websites, or some have space at the right hand side. It's normal! :)

    To check what resolution you're using - on your desktop, right click and click on 'properties'. Then click the 'settings' tab. It should show you what resolution you're using. There's a slider where you can change the resolution if you want. You can always change back the same way.
  • it will also depen on what browser your using some sites dont work every well with different browser !
