Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper
I have a friend who simply has a hole designed into her kitchen wall - waste gets dropped straight through the chute into a bin outside :)
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

We don't have a space in our kitchen, our bin is actually at the back door, so everytime I go out of the door I just move the bin. Not too much hassle, and when there isn't anywhere else in the room for a bin, a door is as good as any.

Do you have a back door it could go by?

Just do what we did, we solved this problem by attaching the bin to the door, so no more moving the bin to open/shut door. Bin never gets too heavy, as you empty it when full, so no damage to door hinges. Just screw on with 2 or 3 screws and washers.

The only thing with having it outdoors is you will have slugs and spiders crawling over it...
