Does it reboot or just switch it self off, have a look under the power options in control panel to make sure that it is not set to go to standby or anything at a ridiculous time. I mean after 5 mins etc..

thanx i will check but to be honest it doesnt always go off. sometimes its a few mins toher thena that it has been a little longer. no set pattern. it sometimes has a problem with the wireless connection too. with the other post from dailyclicker. i know it does get warm underneath but i believe laptops do, however it isnt on long enough to overheat - i dont think.

Wifi connections can be affected by alot of things, however as the computer switches itself of then there may be a greater fault with the hardware.

However this may not be the case. Have you tried running a virus scan (if you have time)?

if it a 'heat ' problem then it shuts down and stays off. A reboot can mean a problem with software . Although it can also be something else. In the computer properties select ' advanced tab and look for 'start up, recovery' options, untick 'automatically reboot' and see what happenes the next time it happens. You should at least get a blue screen with an error message
I would definately get in touch with dell with a view to send it back
