Drainage search

What is the quickest way of obtaining a drainage report?

Are there any websites?

My buyer has now decided he wants a drainage report (7 weeks into the process) and I am wondering if there is a quicker way then his extremely slow solicitor of obtaining this information.

Thanks in advance!

  • It really depends on what your buyer means by a drainage report.

If he wants a CCTV inspection done of the drains to make sure that they are not leaking etc then a look through the Yellow Pages or an online search should come up with several companies.

However, if he wants to carry out a drainage and water search on the property (the title of your post is 'drainage search') then all the water companies offer fast-track searches within hours. The buyer's solicitor will (or should!) know how to get a drainage and water search done quickly.

If his solicitor doesn't know how to do a quick search the buyer can always ring the water company himself to find out!

If it is the search that needs doing I am very surprised that this is only being thought about 7 weeks into the transaction. Sensible solicitors will get monies from the client right at the beginning and do all the searches needed immediately.
