Hello everyone,
I am about to renew the insurance on my '53' reg Astra 2.2 SRI and I am having trouble finding quotes anywhere near cheaper, everywhere I have tried have quoted about £100 more than last year.
I am 25 in October (just after I renew my policy) and have 4 years NCB and a clean driving license.
Any ideas who to try for a good deal?
Regards

FIRST ALTERNATIVE ARE GOOD . And if you use Sainsburys car quote system its cheaper and its underwritten by Esure/FirstALternative!Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.

I used Bell Direct this time. They were the cheapest quote I had by £70. I got a year's cover for £604, the 2nd cheapest had been £674, my current insurers had quoted £820!!! (up from £700-odd the previous year despite adding another year's no claim - ridiculous) and some quoted me as high as £900! (cough - Tesco - cough). You can get an online quote too, but it is bloody tedious filling them in isn't it. I'm dreading next August already!April 2006 - £9790.26dr. DFD - March 20110

No its not tedious use confused.com like i mentioned above you put your details in once then it searches loads of sites like Bell Direct, Admiral , Esure etc etc.0

Here is a low-tech suggestion that I used a good few years ago, before the internet really caught on. It would still be worth a try, as some of the smaller brokers are still not internet savvy.
I printed off about 20 copies of a letter giving my details and asking for an insurance quote, and kept them in the car. Every time I passed an insurance broker, I simply popped one through the door, sat back and waited.
EVERYONE replied, and I got an outstandingly cheap quote from a local broker who I used for the next 5 years!

Confused.Com is mentioned quite frequently on MSE and Motley Fool so I did try them. I have just gone back to the site now, and as soon as I saw it I knew I had been there before. In fact when I input our details it brought us up as a previous enquirer. I do know before I had the quote from Bell Direct that the cheapest I had been able to find had been £684
Obviously the most recent quote details have expired seeing how I was shopping for car insurance in mid-August but I submitted the details again out of interest, and the cheapest quote has come back £100 higher, not from Bell Direct, in fact Bell Direct are not on the list of any insurers on my page.
Laughingly the most expensive insurer is Quinn Direct coming in at £1480.59 - more than double the cheapest quote at £707 direct choice.
Conclusion: When it comes to Car insurance, one size does not fit all! As I have proved the popular insurance search engines may save time and bring back cheaper quotes in price order, but they are not necessarily the cheapest.April 2006 - £9790.26dr. DFD - March 20110 -

whats your cheapest quote so far?
My partner drives a 1.8ltr Astra Coupe, W reg with 3 points and 2 accidents (he's also 24) and he's currently with Hyperformance - think he pays about £600
He's previously been with the AA and Tesco gave him a good deal also!
Confused has never brought back a cheaper quote for either or us!
