I agree with you Jonfev a petrol engine produces peak power near the redline but the article mentions "most of its power through the mid band" which in my case is right. The torque comes in at 2000 and peaks at 5500. The engine is prettty dead lower down and there is not much extra beyond 5500 either.0

I think confusion arises because some people can't differentiate between power and torque!
The torque is more important for car engines. It's true that max power in all internal combustion engines are produced at near redline, however max torque is generated usally at 2/3rds of redline in petrol engines (~ 4000 RPM) and at much lower RPM in diesel engines.
We then have the gearbox which multiplies torqueHappiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
All this discussion about torque is the same thing that tends to make VAG diesel drivers think they have a car that can out-accelerate a Ferrari.
Torque is good for overtaking on the motorway, but when it disappears at 3500rpm you'll be left standing still by the car with the most bhp.0 -

5 and 10 for me too, my excuse being I live in the sticks and the roads are always s$$t bound so Id have to wash my car every day to keep it clean, hence it goes a month or more. If the mood takes me No6 as well but then Ive got a 1.25 fiesta engine which loves to be thrashed and has no red line, so Im not too worried about killing the engine.0
