Can I ask why you want to get into this business?

I need a career change, I work in sales at the moment in a call centre and I hate coming to work every day!

I'm 26 so need to start a proper career where hopefully i can get somewhere

It was between this and doing the CeFa qualifications, ideally eventually I want to become an IFA

I understand it's probably not the best time to start in the mortgage industry but i'm sure the current climate won't last forever

Dont do CEFA. Do the CII exams. No reason other than over 90% of advisers do the CII version. Plus, the CII are the only ones currently that do the higher qualifications that will be needed to be an IFA. So you may as well get used to it from the start.

With that career path you will be looking at 3 Cemap exams, 5 certificate level exams and four diploma level exams to be an IFA. I wouldnt want to be starting out now. Although if you have the funds to cover your early months and dont mind a hard slog then why not.
