sounds like the starter motor isnt engaging, the solenoid will be knackered.

try to get a re conditioned starter motor.

Should a starter motor really be going on a 3 year old car thats only done 19000 miles!

easily,it could have been started 100,000 times in those 19,000 miles compared to a car thats done double the mileage and started less than half that amount. (figures are not accurate only as an example)

as i said get a recon unit for around £40 - £50 give them your old one as service exchange and you might get money off that aswell.
dont buy a new one.

i would get someone to look at it, you sound like your having gear box problems as well as general starting
