Abbey Debit Card, partially blocked online?

Dear MoneySavers,
First time poster, not exactly a long time reader, but thought I'd post this as it's been annoying me (I apologise if this is the wrong forum to post Debit Card issues).
Anyway, I've been using Abbey's Debit Card ever since I was first a student 7 years ago and I've not really had any problems until recently. I've been itching to purchase new PC parts and such now that I have steady income and salary gets sent to my debit card..however, the problem I am having is that my card constantly gets rejected from both ebuyer.com/overclockers.co.uk. I've purchased from those two retailers plenty of times in the past so there's never been any problems with the two.
My debit card was recently a new issued card (December 2007) and I had just recently requested my new PIN code. Have been trying to purchase stuff online for two weeks and no success...been to the Abbey branch and they confirm that there's no restrictions to my account...so I'm really puzzled. I did however remember to unlock my PIN this morning 8:15am and tried to purchase again (Not sure if that's what has been stopping me) at 10:30am today but still payment errors.
I'm absolutely positive that I've been entering the correct details (Entered 20 times now)...and what's even more strange is that my card has been successful in paying for my subscription to World of Warcraft and my Internet Service Provider bill.
If anyone else has had similar problems and has a solution, I'd really appreciate any assistance.
- Stephen.

I play a paladin also
full T6 (1 set ofc)
Anyway...
Got home @ 6:40pm...ate, showered...spent 20 mins on the phone to their customer service line at 8:15pm...transferred to some Indian guy, stated his station was having technical difficulties so he was going to put me back in the queue ...which is fair enough.Got put in the queue for 5 mins, got put through to some English bird...she said I was going to be transferred to her superior...or supervisor....and then got put back in the queue....so I've given up for now
More annoyed that I kept getting put back in the queue...even though I was supposidly being 'transferred'.
Again, any help would be much appreciated.0 -
I had similar problems with using my Abbey debit card online. It got declined so many times and Abbey insisted there was nothing wrong. What really irked me about Abbey is their useless call centre. I must have spent hours on hold to various departments.
In the end I got fed up and transferred my account to Nationwide. Problem solved.0 -

Don't suppose you could elaborate a bit night_owl?0

Guess not
Anyway, cheers for the advice dealer wins, I'll consider it. I really don't want to leave Abbey but I'll have a crack at their call centre one last time over the weekend and see where my future lies after that.
Thanks all.0 -
It could be that for some reason not just your card but the companies in question, the combination may flag up on Abbeys system as a possible dodgy transaction, so lets block it.
It may also be outside of your usual spending pattern, and with it being an online purchase again - flags up,
I had a similar prob b4, with halifax, I took advantage of the aol laptop offer last yr, and upgraded package so I had to pay £170.00 but becoz it was an unusual transaction, it automatically got blocked, one quick call was unblocked, I felt a right idiot, but I was also pleased that the system was in place.
I had a simlar with my Barclaycard, couple of xmas's ago, went shopping to chester, (away from home, xmas shopping), after 3 shops declined I rang bcard, - they were concerned the spending pattern, 1, as was away from home town, 2, there was a lot of purchases literaly one after the other. A quick call, few questions and all ok.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
