Changing three light fittings

Hope someone can help me...:confused:

How much would be a fair price for someone replacing (ie, taking out the old and installing the new) light fittings. There are three.

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can give.

    Hi there, I'm no expert but I paid £40 for three a few weeks back. All were quite simple and I think some can be more time consuming than others. It's such hard work knowing your not getting ripped off isn't it! I'd advise you get three quotes from local sparkies.
    Best of luck

    It's being done by someone I know (don't know them that well) as a favour. Don't want to pay as much as if I got someone out of the phone book but at the same time want to offer a fair amount to him.

    depends on type of light fittings.and how far from the last job it is.
    I used to charge £10 per fitting but some fittings are real pigs.I now work on £15 per fitting with a minimum charge of £40 for the whole job.
    also only ever do jobs like this in evenings or saturday mornings,not worth doing otherwise,and cash only,obviously to keep bank charges to a minimum.

    Based on my last 5 years experiences (working for myself) I would estimate;
    £40-£2800:D

    Best case scenario- all areas acessible no lights needing built up (I hate fan lights), wiring and house electrics meet current electrical standards

    Worst case scenario- House is wired in lead wiring and needs a complete rewire.:eek: (a rewire costs from £1900 [flat] -£2800 [normal house]- or more if house is old / awkward layout)
    baldly going on...
