Broaband, Sync speeds, REIN issue? & BT.

Has anyone out there had any luck getting BT to investigate R.E.I.N (Random Electrical Impulse Noise) issues on their line?

I have an ongoing fault whereby my line sync speeds seems stable at 4500 and then plummets to 2000 ish at some point in the day. When this happens my SNR margin then falls to 1 or 2. When I resync at 2000 the SNR goes back up to 6 or 7 and the line is stable again. Then at some point the following day things will go back to the 4500 mark.
This constant issue plays havoc with my BRAS profile which jumps from 3500 to 1750/2000 every few days depending on when the issue occurs.

BT have thus far been unable to detect the 'issue' but I am collecting graphs to illustrate the problem to the next engineer. I need an engineer to be monitoring the line when the 'incident' occurs but given this happens at no fixed time point I think this is unlikely. The last engineer plugged in when all was running well at 4500 and then went stating no fault found.

I personally suspect that a neighbours equipment may be causing this issue - I have heard of sky boxes causing problems - and the fact that this issue only started happening last September. Before that my line was fairly stable with the 3500 BRAS profile.
This is driving me crazy trying to get BT to actually investigate this in some detail!

This has turned into more of a rant but if anyone has similar experiences or advice I'd welcome them.

FYI I live fairly rural so cable is not an option - it's BT or bust for the line I'm afraid!

Yup bt are a pain for this, when i lived in my old place it was always cracked plastic caps on the over head line connections, keep complaining of very bad static online and they will work down any over head lines till they find one, may take a lot of calls

Does the problem occur when you connect via the test socket behind master (if you have one)? - http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/troubleshooting.htm

Thanks for the thought but I have tried all the tricks in the book.
I even have the adsl filtered at the master socket.
This problem is definitely on BT's side of things.

I've heard of things like electrical garage doors interfering with stuff like this. Are you hearing pops and cracks on the phoneline when it happens?
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

Further reading here - http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/rein.htm , doesn't look too good re BT. Might get some more concrete info on Kitz's forum, she knows her stuff.

To be honest i've never been on the phoen when it's happened - or at least i don't think i have. I am trying to look for a pattern when i get a weeks worth of graphs.

When I had a similar problem it turned out to be temporary traffic lights by some road works. Were turned on at 1700 when the guy with the stop/go sign left for the day. Drove me nuts. Nothing BT or anyone could do about it though, just had to ride it out.

Well this problem started last summer/autumn so something has changed somewhere.

Tonight the crash happened at 8.32pm which is about as late as it's ever been. That said yesterday it was 5.30pm.

It just drives me mad that no-one can offer a solution.

By the way thanks for the link to Kitz site. I think I will find much support on the forum and I take some comfort from knowing I'm not the only one struggling with this sort of issue.

might wanna make friendly enquiries with the neighbours see if any recently got into any amature radio hobbies like cb etc, heard the am band ones can cause havoc near overhead lines but never got hold of one to confirm.
