It's just died. Won't power up on battery or mains. Is it worth repairing?

It depends what the problem is - it might be simple to fix. Sometimes the power lead/charger will stop working, and you won't notice for a while that the battery is running out when it is plugged in, then of course the battery is dead and the charger has died so you won't get any power to the laptop! Luckily chargers are only around £30 to replace so a lot cheaper than buying a whole new laptop!
Some questions:
1. If you plug the charger into the mains, does the light come on on the little box (Not laptop)?
2. Is the connection where you plug the charger in loose - can you move it around when you plug it in?
3. How did it die - did it just not switch on one day? Or were you using it at the time?
4. If 1. and 2. are sound, when you plug the computer in, do any lights (charging lights etc) come on on the outside of the case?
5. Finally, how old is the laptop, had it been acting strangely or making any strange noises recently?I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -

3 years old but has been acting fine other than a bit slowEven if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0 -
one thing to try
Take out the battery and power cable
Hold the power button for 10 to 15 seconds
Plug in the power cable
press the power button
If it starts then everything is fine
if not then it's probably more bother to fix that it's worth.Laters

Your best scenario is that the battery is possibly causing a problem will the laptop come on with the battery out but the mains connected? If not then may be the mainboard and not really worth repairing then.0 -
No it won't so I'm resigned to the fact it's dead. Thanks anyway.Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0
