How to transfer CC balance when not doing regular work?

Hi guys.

I got sucked into the 0% card thing, have paid off very little of the balance, basically messed up, no slapped wrists needed, have beaten myslef up enough about it. Add to that another CC I am paying interest on and the total is approx £3200.

0% finishes this month, I applied for the card while I was still working part time. I now work from home and temp, neither job (combined earnings) takes me up to the tax paying threshold but I cannot state a regular wage for either, and as the work from home is recent, I have no accounts!

I stupidly applied for the HSBC 2 years low interest card to get this debt paid off, as I am pretty sure with some HARD work, I can do this within 2 yrs, but he has been refused :( I am devastated and daren't tell him, the letter is on its way to explain the reasons, according to the email I just got.

Where to turn now? Do I have to just bite the bullet and pay the interest rates on the cards and make sure I don't make the same mistake ever again.

Thanks.

I'm not sure who this third party is that you refer to - did YOU apply for the card or your partner ?

It is a tricky situation, and I think you are going to struggle to get another 0% card without a regular income, so you may be best to work out a payment schedule for the existing debt.

Alternatively can you get some regular work, which would then give you the security to get a further 0% card which you can transfer the debt to ?

Please bear in mind that just because one provider rejects you, this does not mean that a different provider wouldn't assess you differently and actually accept you, so don't get too depressed about it.

Thanks for that, I meant to say I applied for the HSBC card on behalf of my husband. He has no credit cards, but we are home owners with as far as we are aware, no adverse credit, perhaps it was simply on the figures I input. I am going to send for our credit reports anyway, no harm in seeing where we stand!

    Thanks again.

it's worth getting copies of both your credit files.

if you husband has no credit cards then it will probably be difficult to get a good one as his credit file will not show any payment history.. in fact lots of CCs actually specify that you must already have a CC before you can apply for theirs.

Ah right thanks Clapton. He has had CCs but we paid them all off 3 years ago and he hasn't had any creidt since. I didn't realise that.

I have applied for all the credit records I can but Experian request a card payment in your own name, so he will have to do that one if need be!

    Many many thanks.
