The BEST SIPP ?
Comments
-
Assuming that the decision is to go for a SIPP,
it looks like the best option (so far!) is to SPLIT the investments
between SIPPDEAL & HL (provided there is a reasonable amount to split)
into:
SIPPDEAL for Direct Investments: Shares/Gilts/Corp Bonds
HL for Unit Trusts
I have not found any SIPPs to beat these two yet...:T
I was going to say SIPPDEAL looked better for interest on cash but today I received a HL mailshot...they are offering 6.1% fixed (1 yr) on SIPP CashTHE NUMBER is how much you need to live comfortably: very IMPORTANT as part 1 of Retirement Planning. (Average response to my thread is £26k pa)0 -

I have read on here (some time ago) that "HL customer service stinks"
What is the latest?
Also, it is alleged that HL online SIPP info is not clear and difficult to understand. Is this still the case?
Thanks for any feedback.THE NUMBER is how much you need to live comfortably: very IMPORTANT as part 1 of Retirement Planning. (Average response to my thread is £26k pa)0 -
"HL customer service stinks"
Personally I have no major gripes apart from sometimes the person you first speak to is clueless when you try to ask about anything other than Unit Trusts/OEIC's
Actually I have the same gripe about the Dealing Desk too............I even had to explain to one of the 'dopes' how to quote me the price on a security properly, and what the word 'nominal' meant.
If you are dealing in, and holding Fund based investments then they are very good in all aspects I would say.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
I've only heard complaints about HL in relation to share dealing, which is obviously a fairly minority part of their business. No complaints about fund investment. Haven't seen any complaint about the SIPP ( but do be aware that unlike Sippdeal they tier their cash interest payments, so their overall return on a bigger sum might not be so good..I believe there is a special offer on at present though.)
Some people complain about junk mail.Trying to keep it simple...0 -

The adverse comment about the HL SIPP non-clarity was made some time ago. The question is...have they addressed this now?

For those folks just joining this thread
The best SIPP's (so far) appear to be:
SIPPDEAL: for direct investments in shares, gilts etc
HARGREAVES LANSDOWN: for Unit Trusts. OEICS
but I have still not taken the plunge myself yet.
(Still thinking of splitting between the two);)THE NUMBER is how much you need to live comfortably: very IMPORTANT as part 1 of Retirement Planning. (Average response to my thread is £26k pa)0 -
............oh and I forgot,
HL made a total 'pigs ear' of trying to arrange the Pension Life Insurance a couple of years ago !!!!!'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
This thread asks WHICH SIPP?
Because of feedback that suggests taking a broader view (to include Personal Pensions), I shall start a new thread:
SIPP or PERSONAL PENSION?THE NUMBER is how much you need to live comfortably: very IMPORTANT as part 1 of Retirement Planning. (Average response to my thread is £26k pa)0
