Can they just take a car in the middle of night?

  • The only thing he has since the br was a plain piece of paper, handwritten saying please call this no, it did not say what it was regarding (it was from them though)

we understand that they were gonna take the car, just felt it a bit unfair to do it in the middle of night without warning and without chance to claim his personal belongings

Black Horse are usually very good, it must have been an agent locally, ring the main BH office, you want your stuff back

That's shocking! How ridiculous, I mean, he knew it was going to happen and so would have most probably handed the keys straight over and been able to get his stuff..

  • Have spoken to main collection office, apparently the woman was shocked it had been taken (not that helps us)

Yes he would have just handed the keys back and emptied it!

he has lost today at work because most of his equipment was in there and will loose another one tom trying to get over there (some industrial estate) to get it back!

my br has been running very smoothly, his just seems to be one thing after another, i just think its very unfair of them to take his things, could we have them done for theft?!?

I doubt you could have them done for theft because they did put a letter through to your boyfriend asking him to get in touch. Added to that the agreement regarding br, and I would imagine their backs are covered

  • Its just so frustrating that they can just turn up in the middle of the night and do this!

I wouldn't say a plain piece of letter with handwritten really constitutes a letter but oh well!!

need to find a nice cheap run around quick and a way of getting to brum to get the stuff back!! soon all be over eh?!

Just playing devils advocate here and not things I necessarily agree with but....

You say you knew you were losing the car? therefore presumably you were told of this at some point? ... therefore, in theory, the car was no longer yours as you had failed on your agreement (due to BR?)? therefore you shouldn't have been using it and shouldn't have had anything in it?

You also say this was the first time your BF had been at home so they might have tried to collect it on previous occasions and failed and so took ththe opportunity when it arose.

I don't mean to sound harsh here but I can see that being their argument so trying to do them for theft, in my eyes, probably wouldn't work.

I do agree though that it was really mean of them to take it in the middle of the night and a knock at the door to ask for the keys would have been a much better way of dealing with it!

Sorry if i've come across a bit bad here but like I said .. just playing devils advocate :(
