Legal aid costs

Not sure if I'm in the right group but here goes.
I have a relative who recieved legal aid 15 years ago now butwas deferred payment as her husband won 'custody' of the property she was fighting for although she owned half she had to wait. She died 10 years ago but her ex lived on in the property until 6 months ago. Solicitor says legal aid still has to be paid back and will incur interest but does anyone have any idea of what legal aid costs are and with interest. I know we will find out eventually but I don't want it to come as too much of a shock. (Though I'm sure it will be!!) Thanks

Do you mean their is a charge against the house? The solicitor who dealt with probate should be able to tell you? Land registrey also, but you will have to pay to access the information.0

This is one of those 'how long is a piece of string' questions,as it depends entirely on how much work was done for the person granted LA (should really be called Legal Loan!) EG I got LA for my divorce 5 years ago,but had to pay a monthly amount as I was working. After bills were submitted by my solicitor I got a refund. (straightforward case)
My present husband divorced his wife the year before but it took 20 months due to child issues. His ex had a £3,700 LA bill which she had to pay out of her share of their property (in comparison my husband paid around £18,000 for his side of the battle-he didn't get LA.(LA lawyers charge less per hr,letter etc.)
So the amount could be small, medium or large!Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0
