Car sale / possible write off

Hi

I have been trying to sell my 306 the past few weeks to no avail and the MOT is out in 3 weeks so I want to get rid of it ASAP.
I have put it up for £500, then £300 then £200 with 4 months road however I have had only two viwers which were time wasters and are 100 miles away so I am not prepared to take the car 100 miles for JUST a view with no guarantee of it selling.
No garages want to touch it with 3 weeks only left on a MOT and its not worth me putting it through another.
I have contacted a scape yard and they are willing to give me a fair price what I was asking for for scape value, my question is that, do I still return the V5 myself and dont hand it to the scape yard as I have been told that the scapeyard COULD park the car on the road and I would be liable for any fines, is there any notice I can get from the scapeyard to "write off" the car like insurance companies do?!

Most scrap yards will give you a “certificate of destruction” if they are going to weigh it in, alternatively, sometimes they will sell it on for repair in which case you should fill in the normal “selling the car” bit on the V5.

Either way when you leave the car you should walk away with a bit of paper confirming the car is no longer your responsibility

    Thanks Vaio.
The bit that bothers me is last time I sold a car the V5 was sent off and it took 6 weeks for DVLA to update the new keeper, I had 4 parking tickets for it.
I will makesure I ask for some document to delare that its been scaped.:D
And it is being weigh it

I'll give you £50 for it.
  • Put in on Ebay at no reserve. It will sell, no problems.

Don't lie about the condition either, just be honest.
  • tell me more about the car, my mate buys cars all the time!
