I live in Kent, and am looking for the following work on a 4 bed victorian house.
Replacement of an existing 8 year old, working, boiler and hot water tank, with a combi boiler.
Key points
- Drain and remove existing system
- Fit worcester Green Star CDi Sedbuck - 12.7l/min
- programmeable wireless room stat
- 8 radiators to be fitted with TRV
- supply of boiler buddy
- scale reducer to fit to mains circuit
- convert ball valve on w/c to high pressure
- clean and flush system
- replacement cartridge for aqualisa shower
I have had quotes from 3 people - all corgi registered.
The best quote is £2785 + VAT
Other quotes were much higher.
1)Is this a fair price - it is always difficult to tell. He comes recommended and seemed competent
2)We live in a hard water area - is it worth installing a proper water softener, or are the magnetic ones good enough with a combi boiler.
Any advice would be great - or recommendations.
Thanks

Good morning: A decent quote for down here for the WB and the extra works...go with the scale inhibitor (as recommended in the manufacturer's installation manual for hard water areas... Kent is well hard;) )

We had a similar job done recently - ripping out old boilers (separate gas heating & multipoint water boiler) & a WB greenstar cdi put in with 12 new rads and other bits of misc pipework etc and a few other smaller plumbing jobs. Cost about 3000 give or take so your quote doesn't sound too far of the mark. Yes defo go for the scale inhibitor!!
