Help needed re DLA

Hiya, just wondered if anyone can help with a quick question please. I am new to this and have had a look through previous threads but can't seem to find the answer. I have just been informed that I may be able to claim DLA as I had an injury many years ago to my legs. I have limited use to the lower part of my right leg and have developed club foot which makes my walking difficult and I have no feeling at all from the knee to foot in the same leg. I am under a consultant at the hospital who has said this cannot be corrected and will progressively get worse. I do work full time, but the problem lies with the fact that I still live at home with my parents and my Mum is on incapacity benefit and my Dad claims a carers allowance to look after her. I am just wondering if this will have any effect on my claim. My Dad does help with my care in the home but I am worried that if I put this on the claim form it will have a detremental effect on both his and my Mums benefit.
Sorry this is long winded but thought someone might have some available knowledge.
p.s. I do also have a longstanding medical condition (from birth) that can never be corrected which does effect my everyday living and wondered should this be included on the claim too?
Thanks very much in advance for reading.

Yes, I would claim for everything - DLA, Incapacity and carers allowance (your mum could be your carer, apparently it's allowed even though she has a carer herself!).
Also, does your mum claim DLA? It might be worth trying for her too.
If you are refused your claims, appeal, the majority of people fall at the first hurdle, but on appeal get what they deserve.

Yes you can (and should claim)and no it wont affect benefits your parents are getting, however whilst its true to say that 2 people both getting middle or higher rate care, can claim carers for each other,if it conflicts with their own care needs and their abilities then the dwp may well queery it0

The OP says they work full time so would not be able to claim Incapacity Benefit unless they stopped working. As the OPs Father claims Carers Allowance for the OPs Mother she must already be claiming DLA.0 -
Thankyou very much for your replies and advice. After reading the last post, I think I may have got it wrong and my mum may be already on DLA not incapacity. Not sure as don't want to delve into her personal business. I have downloaded the form now and am going to complete it and send it off. Fingers crossed, you never know.
Thanks again x0 -
A word(or 2)before you fill in the form spend as much time as possible doing some online research about dla and take your time filling in the forms, this may helpHappygardener wrote: »Thankyou very much for your replies and advice.
