Free flights with BMI card

Sorry if this has been posted before, did a search but couldn't find it. BMI are currently offering 20 000 miles if you take out and then make a purchase using their credit card. APR is an unfortunate 16% so probably not one to use a lot in the future but 20 000 is enough for a few good destinations. 12 000 is a free return flight UK inland and western europe. 20 000 is a free return flight to eastern europe, cyprus etc. You have to pay the taxes etc but its still worth a punt.

This offer has been running for several months, the drawback: if you already have an MBNA bank card (Virgin, A&L etc) then you'll get declined as they only let you have one of their cards at a time.

Ryanair also offer a free return flight with their credit card. No idea if its run by MBNA though.

For credit cards what a load of rubbish. Just been on phone to MBNA and they have no problems with you having several of their cards.

However the credit limit for additional cards would take into account the credit limit of other MBNA cards.

Looking at the small print on their website, £60 annual fee seems a large price to pay for such a high rate (particularly as they are also charging fees left right and centre for BTs and other uses of the card).

I think the annual fee is for the "better" card and for the basic one there isn't a fee. Both me and mrs chalky_bertie have applied for one as the free flight will do us for next years hols.

I applied for a BMI no fee mastercard when they first came out. They often have promotional periods throughout the year when you can earn double miles and also save you a booking fee of approx £4.95 when you purchase flights on bmi.com (all other credit cards and charge cards used for payment on this site are subject to this fee).

The only downside I found was that if you had more than one small refund made to your card in any calendar month or one large refund they would not award any more miles until the deficit was made up;

ie. in July's statement you notched up 1000 miles on a purchase but then that purchase was refunded in the August statement. Although you may have earned 800 miles in the August statement these miles would not be added to your account nor would the next 200 earned to make up the deficit.

I guess that this is fair enough as you don't get anything for nothing nowadays.

Ditto I have 2 MBNA cards, Virgin & MBNA and the credit limit is split between the two.
