New Gas fire

Hi

We have an old 15+? Baxi gas flame super gas fire, which was in the house when we bought it.

Has it repaired and serviced 3 years ago cost £80.

It now has same problem that it will light but not stay on, not sure if it is worth repairing again, chap said it would be £400 for a new fire.

Seen some in B & Q etc for much less than that, but do you think it`s worth spending alot?

We live in a house with an open staircase coming out of a large lounge 22ft, so need some thing powerful and of course fuel efficient.

Any ideas where to start?

We have a chimney-brick and I have book from old fire with sizers etc on.

thanks
