Ebico Prices - Advice please guys
They seem very competitive
Eastern region electric is 10.8p per kwh and gas is 2.86 per kwh including VAT
We are with EON and there electric is first 900 18.79 and thereafter 10.45
With Npower (unfortuanley) for Gas and that is 6.88 first 4572 and 2.09 after that.
So if Ebico , when they DO have price increases dont have shareholders to satisfy does this mean the rise will be lower than the big boys ?
And if we dont mind paying middle of the road prices rather than the cheapest in exchange for reported good CS and easy to understand bills ;
Is it worth going with them ?
We use under 20000 units of gas p/a and under 3000 units of electric
Any advice welcome
Dan
P.s the main reason i ask is because my ears are ringing with the amount of capped, non capped , first rate , second rfate tariffs going around and think maybe slighlty higher prices isnt all that bad...

I use Ebico and have had no problems with them at all, I've also noticed a significant reduction in how much I spend on gas & electricity.
I have a pre-payment meter for both and my electricity has reduced by about £7 per week, my gas feels as if it's free as I've not put any in for a couple of months, I used to put in an average of £7 per week (taking into account heavier use in Winter).
Customer service has been great too.I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

I think, DG, that Ebico is subsidised by Southern Electric who do the administration.
Apart from price according to comments on this board, customer service is tops.0 -

Thanks both
Ken , just a quick one i have spent some time and can see that from 8/2/08 to 10/04/08 we used 560 units of electric , using ebicos prices that is roughly £240 a year ?? that cant be right surley ?
560 x 4 = 2240
2240 x 10.8 = 241

scrub that
i just realised thats two months not three lol
means its a bit more realistic !
3360 x 10.8 = £362
still seems cheap0 -
Seems odd anyway DG, I run a normal house, tv, sky box, computer, shower, washing machine etc on 1350 kwh a year.
No oven/hob, no tumble drier, but even then 3300 kwh as the national average is stretching it.
Maybe an invention by the energy providers.0 -

I'm still never sure where the averages come from as I always find teh elctric too low and the gas high. We only use 10,000 ofr gas but up to 6000 for electric, all heatiing is gas, electric have shower/oven./tumble and the like but still using energy monitor doesn't flag anything using it in particular, couple of well used rooms need more lights than average due to little daylight but they are now on lower energy bulbs and still teh elec figures aren't dropping. Need some more investigations I think0 -
i cant see how two of us in a 2 bed flat with double glazing , dont use t/dryer make sure to use energy bulbs , gas hob , bolier central heating etc we use ABOVE the national averagre ???0

You need to switch orf the gas and the mains and rethink.
My fridge/freezer is off until enough home grown fruit is ready for freezing then on for say 8 months then off again.
Tier steamers and microwaves are wibly cheap to buy nowadays, automatic, economic to run. Oven and hob no contest.
A suggestion by a poster the other day said 4hrs a day heating in the cold season is feasible so worth a punt.
It's all happening.0 -
Good shouts ken
i have just looked thorugh my account history and since Feb 2nd to today we have used 1028 units
si maybe i was wrong we are still under the 3300 `average`0 -
Still can't get into the habit of making up a flask of tea/coffee for the day. Must try harder.
And on the list is a 'rising mains' water heater, take the chill off. Seen one that ran off solar panel.0
