V5 Charge from finance company
Options
Hello,
I recently cancelled the finance on my vehicle and returned it to the fianace company. I had lost my log book (V5) so I sent the car back minus the book. I have been contacted by the finance company explaining that I owe them £350 for a new log book, after speaking to the DVLA they made me aware that a replacement/new book is a mere £25. I haven't signed any form of disclaimer regarding not handing back the log book.
Does any one have ideas or thoughts of how I can reduce this charge?
Thanks

This company are trying it on.
They will have lost money as you have terminated your agreement and they are trying to recoup some.
You should only pay £25 which is the cost of the V5.
If they persist tell them that you want to make an official complaint about the amount of this charge and you are prepared to take this to the OFT and the Financial Ombudsman service. They must acknowledge your complaint in writing within 5 days - tell them that you are aware of this.
They then have 4 weeks to deal with the complaint
They will soon back down!0 -
How do the finance company know that you lost the V5 - perhaps they did......0

Hi,
why dont you apply for the log book yourself, then say you found it.
That will put their nose out of joint.
good luck,
