Which one in argos? theres no link attached.
If it is a single skin one it will be fine for occasional use in good weather but if you intend to use it more often or when there is a chance of rain you really need one with a dual skin else otherwise you'll get wet through.
Also one with a small porch is handy so you can leave your kit outside the main bit of the tent but not leave it outside.0 -
how do u know if its a single or double skin? thanks xmyx0

They usually say if they are single skin. Alternatively look at the description of what it is made of, if it specifies different materials for the outer and inner then you know it's got a proper inner and seperate flysheet.
To be honest single skin tents are either OK for playtents in the garden or they're very expensive specialist lightweight tents. For general camping you want one with an inner and flysheet. They're more waterproof and the air trapped between the two layers helps to insulate them a little bit. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

"Hydrostatic head 1000mm."
This is the important part. It's an indication of how waterproof the tent is and hence how thick the material is. It will be fine for decent weather, but come the wind and rain it may not be too comfortable.
From the picture it looks like a double skin. The bedroom area looks to be a seperate compartment to the rest of the tent, but I'd check this first.
The one you chose is cheap because it's cheap material. I'd be checking e-bay. A few manufacturers names to look for Relum, Vango, Coleman.
A visit to a camping centre could be worth it's while to look at different designs and compare cheap ones with expensive ones.0 -
I highly rate kyham but they are the pricy end. The quick erect system really works and gives slightly more weight to the structure if it is being put ip in wind. Even though we have a camper and awning now I have still kept our tent because it is such good quality.0

apart from the hydrostatic head what else do i need to look for in a tent,No Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20 -
1st question - what do you want to do with the tent?0

A must for me would be a SIG (sewn in groundsheet) to stop bugs coming in. Also keeps you warmer (slightly) as no gap between bottom of tent and groundsheet.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
