Alternative to Windows Media Player

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone had any suggests. I do actually like WMP as it plays everything I need it to, was just thinking of trying something different. Basically a player for handling mpeg's, divx/xvid etc...

I've looked at the video support in Winamp, but don't really like it and I don't fancy using Real Player, Quicktime, or DivX Player.

I tend to use QT (version 7 has just been released for Windows - plays nice High Def videos) and DivX and steer clear of WMP, mainly because of the video editing I do at work, QT is one of the more standard players for the web, while DivX can play amost anything thrown at it.

for those that need to find them.

I did mention I'd like to steer clear of both of those player. Personally, I don't like Quicktime at all, in fact I've got Quicktime Alternative installed instead as it's a much lighter and faster solution for playing quicktime files. The DivX player is ok, although I've always had little problems with it, and don't find it as seamless as WMP.

    sorry wolfman, mis-read your post.

Try Real alternative - might not play everything but it will give it a go.

Mentioned it in the OP, didn't like it's video support.

VideoLan, yes, I think I've heard you recommend it before. Good suggestion, I'll give it a try.

I'd recommend zoomplayer and bsplayer. Zoomplayer has one must-have feature and that being able to zoom in with the scroll wheel of your mouse. Great for extreme widescreen files as you can cut off the edges and get a bigger picture.
