Using my HSBC credit card abroad

I took out a HSBC credit card a couple of months back which includes 12 months interest free payment on purchases.
Now, will this include purchases that I make abroad? I know i'll have to pay a charge for using it but will it be included in the interest free payment? I'm off to the States next weekend, ideally I would have got a Nationwide card but i've left it a little late now
Any help appreciated
