What happened to my boiler?

Last week our oil fired combi boiler stopped giving out hot water and started tripping the electric. A boiler guy came out and looked at and although he wasn't familiar with our particular make he spotted a leak at the diverter valve which he reckoned was shorting the pressure switch and blowing the electric. While i was talking to him i noticed the pressure gauge had gone up to 3 bar and water started leaking out the expansion vessel. He left (without charging) and i found someone who could work on it. So far he's changed the pressure vessel (leaking diaphragm - water leaking out the air valve), the divertor valve (melted internals apparently), the pressure switch, part of the pump and a thermostat and we still don't have hot water although he left today thinking it was working ok.
Assuming it just needs a bit more fettling to get it working and no more parts would one bit failing have damaged the rest? He mentioned that the pump may have overheated and jammed and the pressure switch was probably water damaged.
I'm dreading the bill for this
