which one of these weddings would you choose?

The first one sounds wonderful, except for the self catering part. But, by the sounds of it includes honeymoon too as you are there for a week.
The second one sounds lovely too, except for the number of people. I personally prefer a smaller wedding. Catering including drinks & staff & decorations sounds very cheap- is this figure right?
Does it have to be 15 or 100?
I was e-mailed a file of a few choices but they have loads more too which I can ask to see.The cheapest meal was 4 courses(3 + coffee and mints) from £23.95 up to 5 courses at £32.50 and the drinks packages were great too starting at £8.75 for 3 drinks up to £10.95 for 4.They do evening buffet too from £5.50-£9.95.The menus looked good.Much better than some much more expensive ones I have seen.
The staff and tables, linen, crockery etc are all included too in the per head price.Oh and they also say they include simple table decos,I assume flowers,to match your wedding colour theme."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
Thanks everyone.WE have decided we would feel a bit awkward doing the vows etc infront of family we hardly know and especially in front of workmates. Its a private wedding for us then.Heres a photo of the great hall in the castle, just trying to picture my purple and white flowers in there,it looks so perfect with the red in the photo.

It is a stunning venue. The flowers will look great there. It will be intimate and special.0

What time of year are you getting married? The castle is beautiful, and the flowers are perfect.
I'd considered a very intimate wedding like that but we couldn't narrow the guest list down enough due to two quite large families.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

The wedding is 5th November but we will be arriving on 31st Oct (hallow'een party!!!)and staying for a full week. The rest of the family are supposed to be coming up on the wednesday afternoon for the wedding on thursday but I kinda doubt we will be allowed the few days to ourselves and will likely have them for the full week too.MIL has already told me she has booked the full week off work to help us get things ready.Noooooo!!!We will get the last night to ourselves though.
We picked the castle because it is small, grand but still manages to feel homely.Hey,why didn,t I just plan a wedding at home in the first place?"Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
The castle looks beautiful.
If the castle chef is that expensive  , can you get an outside catering firm in, or atleast have them pre-prepare everything for you, so it only needs warming up & plating?
And the MIL can have the children all week as she is now free :T0 -

The castle is gorgeous
I love the flowers too - where did you find them?
I have been struggling to find decent thistles to mix with my flowersOfficially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Dont know whats up with my computer today, cant quote from any posts.Reply to sooz-the owner has given me phone numbers of local girls who can waitress and the housekeeper can warm up our pre prepared food and keep an eye on everything.
We wouldn,t trust anyone else to do the food as well as we can so it will be pre prepared and maybe just need finished off and displayed by the staff. We will do trials of the desserts etc and take photos so the staff know exactly how to present it on the day."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
Thanks!
The flowers are from the 'crocus' site.I actually saw an arrangement very like this one a few months ago and totally fell in love with it,cant remeber who it was by now though but found this today and its very similar. The other one I prefered had sea holly instead of thistle(though they called it thistle). This one has globe thistle but there are so many diifferent types and colours of thistle, even a red ball thistle 'circium proteanum' which is gorgeous."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0
