Best Excuse for Not Liking House...

We sold our house a couple of months ago after a long, long struggle.
During this time we had some humdinger excuses for not liking the house.
The best one by far was the "You have too many animals". We had 3 fish tanks. The fish were moving with us. The tanks are enclosed due to the physics of life on earth meaning water will spill if not placed in a water-tight area. No mess. No smells.
An absolute belter of an excuse.
What have been the best excuses when selling your house?

The funniest one was 'we want a house'... well then, what on earth were you looking at a maisonette for???
Although this was cleared up when the EA revealed that their budget couldn't buy the smallest and shabbiest of houses in this area.CarQuake / Ergo Digital0 -
The last time we had a house on the market we showed a couple around, pointing out all the nice bits and saying what a brilliant family home it was (as you do). Their response to the estate agent was that we obviously weren't serious about selling as we loved the house too much
!
Another chap said he loved the whole house but wouldn't be putting in an offer as the bath was too small!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
I once had a prospective buyer look around my previous house and she actually lifted the lid and looked in my dirty washing basket........we then got feedback from our estate agent that she didn't like the house because "there's nowhere to put a linen basket". I kid you not; I mean, what the HECK can you say to that?!"I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0

My belter of an excuse from a time waster who had put in an offer it had been accepted and we were a week off exchange and she said 'no i dont want to buy as i dont own the garden and i need i for my dogs' (we were a ground floor flat with communual gardens but the on in front of our flat was for the sole use of us and noone else it stipulated this in the lease) We thought fair enough until she went and bought the flat upstairs for the same price and then would of had to walk even further to the garden and her dogs would have to go all teh downstairs first not just out the door.0

my best one on site was the name of the house design, Balfour, a large 4 bed with d/g etc,(they thought it sounded like a newsagents) they brought very same house design 6 months later on another development of ours by which time the design was then called a Sandringham.my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

i had 2 guys refuse to rent coz they did not like the small size of the tv, that i was taking with me. also no room for nintendo's etc. [as they looked at the HUGE expanse of the living room, being a girl i had failed to provide vital storage for boys toys - there was however loads of space in the bathroom cupboards for make up]
since i had told the agents i did not want, under any circumstances 2 men living in my flat. huh - i di not want them anyway [men are toooooooo dirty :rotfl: ]0 -
I am in the process of selling my 2 bedroom top floor flat. You wouldn't beleive the amount of people that said that they loved it but wouldn't put an offer on it because it didn't have a garden...duh! My EA always tells poeple that we have no garden prior to arrange viewings so that's a lame excuse!0

We recently sold our three bed detatched house after 18 months on the market..
You wouldn't believe the number of people who said 'its perfect, but we are really looking for a 4 bedroomed house' !!!!!I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
One set of views I received was 'the rooms are round the wrong way'! (My lounge was at the front and my kitchen at the back).
Well short of knocking the house down and rebuilding it I could not do anything about that.0 -

This exactly what we are going to do in the bungalow we like the look of... if we sell our house and then the bungalow hasn't sold. The lounge at the front will be turned into a bedroom and we will put patio doors onto the bedroom at the back and (finances permitting) have a conservatory on the back. Admittingly, the house needs updating anyway, so shouldn't be too much of a problem.
