Lost car key , any advice

Hi

I have lost one of my car keys (ford focus 54) , when I went to get another one cut I was told they couldnt do it as he needed both keys,(immobiliser chip code.)

The best advice was to go through Ford and buy one from them at a cost of around £40/50 quid.

Has anyone else been stupid enough to misplace a car key? if yes how much did it cost you?

I really want a spare key, he also told me If lost this one then it would cost 1000quid to have a new immobiliser put in.

caz

p.s can you claim on house ins for loss of car keys?

Easiest way is to take the vin number (registration documents) down to a ford dealers and be prepared to be cleaned out - I think it will cost more than £50 sorry to say.

I had a google as I had to do this for my old 53reg SportKA.

If you get a 2nd hand key hopefully this will work.

You may wish to do additional research from a google search to ensure this works on your model as I didn't see 54reg in particular.

Also, maybe take a look at https://www.ffoc.co.uk

Follow this procedure to program your factory remote transmitter for your Ford Focus:

    1. Close all doors to make sure conflicting chimes do not sound during programming.
    2. Turn the ignition switch from position I to position II four times within six seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
    4. A chime sounds and an LED will illuminate to indicate that the learning mode has been accessed and it is possible to program remote transmitters.
    5. Within 10 seconds of the previous step, press any button on the remote transmitter being programmed until a chime is heard and the LED flashes. This indicates a new transmitter code has been successfully received.
    6. After each successful remote transmitter programming, another 10 second learning mode is automatically entered, up to a maximum of four times.
    7. To program additional remote transmitters, repeat step 5.
    8. The system will exit the learning mode if the ignition switch is turned to position III, no new remote transmitter is programmed during the 10 seconds or if four remote transmitters have been programmed.
NOTE: An incorrect programming procedure does not affect the stored codes.

NOTE: A maximum of four remote transmitters can be programmed to the vehicle. Programming must be done at the same time for all the remote transmitters.

NOTE: Before entering the remote transmitter programming mode, make sure that the vehicle battery is fully charged and that the anti-theft system is not armed or triggered (if equipped).
