Converting CDs to midi files

Anyone know how to convert CDs to midi files please? Thanks in advance.

As convertors actually have to recognise the different instruments, notes and timings of each track the results are never going to be great.If you're feeling down, you must be holding a duck.0 -
You can't. Midi is not an audio type it's an instruction set used by midi compatible instruments to tell them what to play. It is true that there are utilities to convert wave files to midi but they have to monophonic (single notes at a time) and largely unprocessed. Even then they don't work well. You can't to this with anything else.0

I was always quite sceptical of wav2midi converters, but I found a pretty decent one which can successfully handle polyphonic source. Its called TS-AudioToMidi (audioto.com/eng/aud2midi.htm) .. give the demo a try and if you like the results (a midi file you can listen to, but not save) then think about buying it. For a bit more dosh they offer a program called "7 Canaries" which creates better midis - it actually seperates the different instruments out onto different tracks within the midi.I hear the cry of the silence around me.0
