How about a new in-car buggy? The older style Maclaren Volos have an all mesh seat, which is so easy to wipe clean (or even hose down ;) ). Plus it's teeny & very light.

    There are several on ebay

Ooh for goodness sake, babies are messy, prams will clean, give the child finger food.

Children are messy, prams, carpets, walls, curtains, everything will be touched by childrens hand once they are walking, you cannot be too fussy about being clean and tidy, you will end up a very stressed mum.

    Merlot.

Just like to say that as a nursery nurse, some babies do sneeze when feeding. It seems to be a natural reaction to getting food (or any thing else) in the nasal passages. This can enter from the front, when their head moves and the spoon misses or when they dont quite swallow as a more mature person would and it gets there from the back. Also OFSTED would throw a paddy if they caught us feeding a child in a pram at nursery (unhygienic)

I understand what you are saying - you wouldn't feed a child at a nursery in a pram ?? why would you - put she is asking how to fed her own child while out and about. I feed my child in his own pram while out and about and I don't feel it is unhygienic. Actually I find using highchairs in cafes prob more unhygenic but I do it. i do wipe the cafe highchairs down first with a milton wipe.

btw I wipe my pram down with a damp flannel after his meal to wipe up the mess and it seems to work! he manages to touch every part of the buggy with dirty hands!! So i know your worries!!

Oh..and I have that IKEA cheap highchair mentioned in a post above and it is the best highchair in the world!! :T

I did the feeding in the pram when out and about-always made sure I had a couple of muslin cloths in the bag and used these as a "tablecloth" to keep the child and the pram kind of clean.
Either that or like someone's already mentioned, sitting sideways on my lap, again with a muslin cloth to save me and him from the fallout
  • I think my first choice would be a fingerfood picnic, on a blanket - though this does depend on the weather. Trust me, Felicity - if he's hungry, he'll get it down :) To begin with try larger pieces of food so he can suck bits off. If he has teeth, he can bite them off too. This way, he learns how big a piece he can swallow. He might cough a bit, but you're there to watch him and it's all part of learning. Take food for both of you - he will love watching you eat the same food as him and will learn from it too.

Otherwise, I'd line the buggy with an old blanket to catch extra mess and pop on a bib with sleeves.
I like you. I shall kill you last.
