Beef mince past use by date - bin it?

As other posters have said - the danger with mince is the surface area. Each little peice has a surface area and there are lots of little peices so there is a lot of bacteria there. Joints have much less surface area and there less bacteria. Keeping cooked rice is also very risky for the same reason. I chance it sometimes but I always feel I'm playing Russian Roulette - one day I'm going to get a dose of something nasty!£16,500 in debt.

I know that I have absolutely no idea of the quality of the meat that went into my frozen mince. Short of mincing my own fresh bought meat on the spot this is the only way I feel sure about mince over a day old.
Rather like peas.
